Winter marks the dark time of year, the longest night at solstice, and a season of deep introspection. It is a time of quiet vision. It is a time to reflect on ourselves as humans, how we experience the world, as well as how we give back to it in our daily lives. Life’s metaphoric soil is now richly fertile.
Many cultures, religions and traditions celebrate this time of year with various kinds of profound ritual. And many of those rituals share one thing in common: the lighting of candles.
Around this time and in addition to the personal rituals I honor in my home, I like to reflect on a great spirit of unconditional love and peace that lights a flame inside my mind and heart.
One mantra I always used in my personal growth journey was - it is easiest to see the light in the dark. We can all uplift our consciousness and ask for the grace to recognize universal truth with deeper compassion and embodiment.
Light a candle this winter. As we do so to represent the true flame of divinity, abundance, peace, love, hope, perseverance, renewal, dedication, giving, forgiveness and unity; it is my prayer that the collective energy born of a myriad intentional rituals around the world this season spreads peace, patience and kindness throughout and beyond all life and into all realms known and unknown, seen and unseen.
The ripple effect of your intention generates and gifts light unto places we may never know or understand.
As we stand intimately still and look within, pray for truth. And in that honest humility, you will find light and nothing else. You will see the spark of pure, perfect creation. May you remember and hold that light all the season long.
Give it away with the knowing that the light you bear is infinite. The divinity within you cannot be lost or broken, stolen or depleted. It simply is. All we need to do is look, and remember.
The world may ebb and flow, change and cycle through the spectrum of human conditions, but this is only external. There is one constant truth holding space for change, growth, evolution, death, rebirth, chaos and regeneration- and that is the light within you. That is the light that unites all life. It is a constant flame. Give your energy and attention to that light, your north star.
May your light shine on.
