BALANCING SEXUAL ENERGIES

Your sexual energy is intrinsically related to your creative energy, life force, Kundalini, as well as a healthy, dynamic flow of Prana throughout the body. In the discussion of spirituality and energy bodies, it is important that we take note of how our sensuality and sexuality is expressed in our physical reality. And no, you don’t necessarily need a partner to have a healthy expression of that energy. What I am speaking about is balance, flow, intentional utilization, integration, and expression of that most powerful, sexual energy within you.

Before I move forward, I want to define some of the terms I used earlier. Prana (with a capital P) is the motion and the coding of energies through the realms of mind and body. It has to do with movement and flow. Prana divides itself into different frequencies or types of motion within the areas of the body, known as vayas. Prana is NOT Kundalini energy. Kundalini is an emanation of the soul itself, the opening of soul energy and awareness. Kundalini energy is coiled, sitting at the base of the spine and can be channeled, opened, and harnessed throughout the body. When this happens, the soul takes the wheel; not your ego.  The opening of consciousness parallels the journey of opening Kundalini. Kundalini is known as the nerve of the soul. 

There are many reasons sexual energy can become blocked and out of balance, and it gets way more complex when we take into consideration external sourcing of energy that may be affecting one’s natural alignment of vibration. However, for our purposes today I want to impart to you that for you to feel balanced sexually there needs to be balanced energy forces throughout your multidimensional bodies. 


Have you ever been completely heartbroken and all the sudden fatigue, depleted energy, and low libido takes over; as if your system is shut down? Or, on the contrary, have you ever been overwhelmed with the energy force created by combining your sexual self with a new or current partner? It can manifest as overly excited energy or heat stuck in certain regions of the body, jolting and fizzing in a specific somatic locale. Sometimes it can be hard to concentrate with those types of palpable physiological reactions to stuck energy, indicating disintegration. I’ve worked with clients experiencing all different kinds of sexual energy imbalances; from addiction, to overindulgence in masturbation without being able to feel an open heart center (which can lead to confusion & escapism), to those who have been harmed in the past and are unable to access their sexual energy with their current partners due to fear.  Sometimes people are just shut down. Sometimes people cannot handle their bad selves (I kid...it's sex, c'mon).

The point is, blocked sexual centers can lead to blocked creativity, joy, excitement and the like. 


Each case is different. And whether you notice a major or minor imbalance, or perhaps rather you are someone who loves working with their sexual energy in positive, healthy forms daily—it’s always a good idea to check in.

We can learn to harness our sexual energy to manifest the desired, to exercise our physical bodies with more power, retrain the brain, enhance creativity or create something new, to bring light to our cells, to feel unity with God, to feel unity with another, and to heal. At some point, I will share with you some exercises and mental attitudes to help you work with sexual energy as a practice, or even with a partner. But damn, babe... that is another email (or training).

Lack of balance, joy, and community can stifle this energy. Toxic partners, unhealthy habits, addictions (workaholics included) can stifle this energy. The kids can get in the way, but they certainly don’t have to. 

Every breath can be poetic and sensual. My sacred, sensual self helps me access my depths, keep my senses keen, communicate with joy, understand with compassion, play with life, manifest what I wish, and bring others joy. Yours can do all those things too!


Allowing the creative force of sensuality (when balanced and in the heart’s temple) to lead the way to passion, desire, light, and love means living a beautifully fulfilled, higher reality. One’s intuitive, poetic self is uplifted and the physical body responds to the heightened dance of the sacred sensual. May you live as the Kings & Queens, the Gods & Goddesses that you truly are. May you revel in this open playground.

For now, let’s look at how we can balance Prana with a simple, 3-minute exercise so your Kundalini can circulate through upper energy centers.

COBRA POSE + BREATH OF FIRE

Here's the deal:

  • BALANCES SEXUAL ENERGY
  • DRAWS THE PRANA TO BALANCE APANA 
  • HELPS KUNDALINI CIRCULATE TO UPPER CHAKRAS
  • FEELS REALLY GOOD 
Lie on the stomach with the palms flat on the floor under the shoulders. The heels are together with the soles of the feet facing up. Inhale into Cobra Pose, arching the spine, vertebra by vertebra, from the neck to the base of the spine until the arms are straight. Begin Breath of Fire for 1-3 minutes. (Breath of Fire is a rapid, rhythmic, continuous breath and is always practiced through the nostrils with the mouth closed. It is powered from the naval and solar plexus. To exhale, the air is expelled powerfully through the nose while you pull the solar plexus/naval back to the spine. This should feel automatic. To inhale, the upper abdominal muscles relax, the diaphragm extends down, and the breath seems to come in as part of relaxation rather than through effort. ) After 1-3 minutes, inhale, arching the spine to the maximum. Exhale and hold the breath out briefly while applying mulbandh (tightening and pulling sex organs/root in and up through body). Inhale. Exhaling slowly, lower the spine, vertebra by vertebra, from the base of the spine to the top.  Relax, lying on the stomach. P.S. Like what I have to say and share?
